Swan Boat Race
Raised For Teacher
Supplies
Join the fun, get in the race! Help us as we help A Gift For Teaching help our dedicated teachers of Orange and Seminole Counties is the goal of the Great Rotary Swan Boat Race. Held at Lake Eola Park in the heart of downtown Orlando the goal is to encourage corporations to sponsor a company team to race the iconic swan boats of Lake Eola. The Orlando Sentinel described the race as the slowest fun event around.
The Gift for Teaching gathers essential classroom supplies for teachers to share with students whose families often can’t afford the basics like pencils, crayons, etc. For many years caring teachers have spent their own monies to see that these students had the basic supplies, but in 1988, A Gift For Teaching has filled the void.
In 2018, our club committed to a corporate partnership with A Gift For Teaching which means we are committed to provide them with $5,000 in financial support each year. In addition, at the race we encourage all participants and the general public to donate gently used books suitable for elementary school children. These books are also free to teachers who can give them to students to encourage recreational reading in the home.
So join the fun! Gather a company team and commit to sponsoring a boat at the next Great Rotary Swan Boat Race. See if you can knock off the defending champions of the Orlando Fire Department! For complete details send a note to: admin@orlandorotary.org.
