
DR. YOUSSIF B. AL-NASHIF: THE IMPORTANCE OF CYBER SECURITY

Dr. Youssif B. Al-Nashif earned his Ph.D. in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of Arizona, Tucson, Arizona, in 2008, his M.S. in Electronic and Communication Engineering, Jordan University of Science and Technology, Irbid, Jordan, in 2000 and his B.S. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Major, Jordan University of Science and Technology, Irbid, Jordan, 1999
He has held a joint appointment in the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department and the Computer Science Department since August 2015. He served as the academic program coordinator for the Department of Computer Science from September 2015 to December 2017 and the chair of the department in 2018.
He came to Florida Poly from Old Dominion University (Norfolk, Virginia), where he was the founding director of the center for cyber-security education and research. He also served as an assistant professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Old Dominion University.
Prior to that, he was an assistant research professor at the University of Arizona-Tucson for five years. He was site research director for the NSF Center for Cloud and Autonomic Computing (NSF-CAC) at the University of Arizona from 2009-14. His industry experience includes serving as a computer research scientist for AVIRTEK Inc. located in Tucson, Arizona.
