Dr. Burns received his Ph.D. in Developmental Psychology from the University of Massachusetts. He recently retired from the Department of the Navy (DoN) where he spent 30 years working in research, development, and implementation of training.
Over the last several years, he has been working with the University of Central Florida's Center for Autism & Related Disabilities (UCF CARD) and its aligned 501(c)3, "Providing Autism Links & Support (PALS), he currently serves as the PALS Secretary. The vision of PALS is to be the leading non-profit grassroots organization supporting autism in Central Florida by providing supports, services, and programs for individuals with ASD to become included members of the community, and by piloting innovative programs and empowering parents, family members, professionals, and siblings through its programs and activities.
Dr. Burns also volunteers in the Orange County Public School system as a mentor and he is an avid cyclist.
