The Rotary Foundation Celebration
Hybrid Meeting – November 16, 2023
Join the Rotary Club of Orlando as we celebrate The Rotary Foundation with Michael A. Franklin.
Michael has been a Rotarian for 8 years and a member of the Rotary Club of Apopka for that time. He served as Club President, Club foundation, and membership chair. As well as a board member for both the club and foundation board. As club president, he held 33 community service projects during his term. Served on numerous charitable fundraising planning boards. Conducted Free Community Festivals in recreational deprived neighborhoods. Coordinated the South Apopka Forum which spearheaded several community initiatives.
He has served District 6980 as PolioPlus Chair, Area Governor and currently District Rotary Foundation chair. Coordinated the District 6980 Virtual Polio Miles Marathon during the pandemic. Has been awarded Area Governor of the year and several community awards for service. Michael is also a U.S. Army veteran and member of VFW post 10147. Graduate of leadership Apopka.
Michael has been in Healthcare and Live Sound & Stages for over 38 years. He owns Strata Entertainment, LLC., which provides sound and staging services. Also is the Director of Activities at Solaris Healthcare. He remains active in several service organizations.
He has been married to his lovely wife Monique for 25 years and has 2 daughters. His wife is very active alongside Michael on numerous community food drives and service projects. She also owns Franklin Handcrafted Soy wax candles. Michael’s first experience with Rotary was nearly 35 years ago on a peace keeping mission to deliver Polio vaccines in Cameroon, Africa while in the U.S. Army. His team was responsible for preparing the equipment to deploy.
He and Monique enjoy attending music festivals, morning walks, family and friends. Their youngest is 12 and keeps them busy.
