August 14: District Governor, Richard Harris's Official Visit

Dick has been a Rotarian since 2004 and currently is a member of the Rotary Club of Orlando.  He has served in a number of club and district positions including as a club president.  He is a multiple Paul Harris Fellow and a member of the Paul Harris Society.  He was selected as the District 6980 Rotarian of the Year in 2020 – 2021.  

Dick was born and raised in South Dakota where he graduated from the University of South Dakota with a BA in Physics and Mathematics.  At the University of Iowa, he earned both  Master’s and PhD degrees in mathematics.  


He has served in high level operations research and systems analysis positions for the US Navy including assignments at operating commands from Hawaii to Naples, Italy. 

Dick began his career in the Orlando community as the CFO for an Orlando food distribution company.  He has been active in the local Orlando community for many years with positions on the County Planning and Zoning Commission, the Metroplan Orlando Citizens Advisory Committee, the Metroplan Orlando Freight Mobility Working Group, on the Lake Brantley High School Advisory Committee, and as chair of the Seventh Congressional District Service Academy Selection Board.  Additionally, Dick led the academic operations of Belhaven University’s Adult Studies programs directing over 600 faculty and curriculum at nine campuses and teaching sites in five states.


Dick and his wife, Cindy, have two children and five grandchildren.  They enjoy traveling, especially road trips throughout the USA, Viking cruises, and visiting National Parks.
