Sonya has been as a Rotarian since 2016, and is a charter member of the Rotary Club of Lake Nona Lunch. She has served in a variety of club positions to include President. She has been recognized as Rotarian of the Year, a Rotary Inspirational Leader and a Rotary Emerging Leader. She was selected to serve as Assistant Governor 2018-2019, Area Governor 2019-2021, and currently selected as the District 6980 Governor-Elect. 


She graduated from Warner Southern University with a Bachelor of Arts degree, is a Graduate of the Office of Personnel Managements Mid-Level Development Program and completed twenty-six weeks of federal law enforcement training in Roswell, New Mexico and Atlantic City, New Jersey.


She joined the Federal Air Marshal Service in June of 2002. Assigned as the Assistant the Special Agent in Charge, Sonya was charged with supervising and mentoring Federal Air Marshals on behalf of the Transportation Security Administration. She coordinated, developed, implemented, and supervised law enforcement activities within the transportation domain both domestically and internationally.


During her career with the Federal Air Marshal Service, she served as a Federal Air Marshal and was promoted to the Assistant to the Special Agent in Charge in 2007. Sher has served in numerous supervisory assignments at the Orlando International Airport and Sanford Airport as the Assistant Federal Security Director, the Global Response Team Supervisor, the Critical Incident Response Team and the National Coordinator for Assistant Federal Security Directors.

Sonya retired in 2014, after twenty-four years in law enforcement.


Prior to joining the Federal Air Marshal Service, Sonya served over twelve years with the Daytona Beach Police Department. She accepted a position as a Patrol Officer in 1990 and worked numerous assignments rising to the rank of Sergeant. During her tenure, Sonya received national credit for her ability as a Hostage Negotiator. Sonya served as a member of the Mounted Police Unit and was awarded the Medal of Valor as well as the Medal of Merit during her tenure.


Sonya currently serves as the Executive Director of the Air Marshal National Council in an effort to enhance National Security. She is married to Tony LaBosco and they enjoy living and working on Eagle Heart Ranch in Lake Nona.
