Sam Baker is a recent graduate of the University of Central Florida, and the founder of WriggleBrew, an Orlando-based startup led by a group of recent graduates aimed at ending fertilizer runoff and soil degradation by replacing polluting petrochemical fertilizers with a novel organic alternative. Sam is an entrepreneur with a strong passion for sustainability and the environment, and with the help of the team he has assembled, has successfully developed a brand new product from the ground up that now sells at 15 locations and online.
Originally creating WriggleBrew as a research project, Sam continues to work as a researcher and he and his teams' work has now been funded by the City of Orlando, the USDA and the National Science Foundation. Their research includes everything from groundbreaking work with bioreactors that can digest styrofoam to machine-learning assisted optimization of energy-generating composters. Sam and his team's work is designed to provide solutions that are not only more sustainable than the market standards, but more competitive too.
