Early Florida History Thru the Civil War – Tom Tart
Hybrid Meeting – August 17, 2023
Mr. Tart is a fifth-generation Floridian. He attended University of Florida on a football scholarship where he received a BSBA and later attended Stetson University College of Lay/Juris Doctor. He moved to Orlando upon graduation. After 41 years of law practice in Orlando, he retired in the summer of 2009. He worked for a civil practice law firm for 14 years and then 25 years with the Orlando Utilities Commission as House Counsel, Vice President, and General Counsel. It was the best of times!
He still lives in Orlando. He has been involved in doing programs with many WWII Veterans and placing official historic WWII Markers at airfields around Florida.
His hobbies and interests include World War II, Civil War, and golf. “A talent I wish I had, a writer of history books.” A philosophy I live by, “The Golden Rule.”
