Third son of five children of Lynwood and Elizabeth Wimbish, COL Wimbish was raised in Baltimore, MD during the Civil Rights era and matriculated his undergraduate degree in Biology from Morgan State University, one of the original HBCU (Historical Black Colleges & Universities). While there, he was a distinguished R.O.T.C. cadet and graduate in the Army Cadet Corps. He holds a master’s degree in Information Systems and Technology, from the University of Central Texas Fort Hood, where he earned the distinguished “Who’s Who in American Universities” as a graduate student and while in Afghanistan completed a second master’s in Education and Teacher Leadership from National University, San Diego, CA. COL Wimbish comes from a heritage of proud parents who, after 77+ years of marriage, remain a prime source of inspiration and Christian foundation. He is a Mason, and Rotarian with Dr. Phillips Rotary.
He’s a graduate from the US Army Command & General Staff College, Military Intelligence Officers Advance Course, Unit Race Relations-Equal Opportunity Course, the Defense Institute of Security Assistance Management in Security Cooperation and, certified as a helicopter pilot. COL Wimbish’s awards include The Legion of Merit, Bronze Star, Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Joint Service Achievement Medal, and, the Florida Cross. Over 33 years of active, guard and reserve service with combat tours to Iraq and Afghanistan. After retiring, he built a successful career as a corporate manager in information systems, manufacturing, production inventory control, logistics, sales, and marketing with several Fortune 100 corporations. He also taught for five years as a high school J.R.O.T.C. instructor before deciding to take on the ultimate quest to become the next U.S. Congressman in the House of Representatives for District 10 Florida in the 2022 midterms.
He has been married for 46+ years to his bride Chong “Suszie”, father of two children and a grandfather.
