Homeland Security Investigations with David Pezzutti

Mr. Pezzutti began his federal law enforcement career in 2000 with the Drug Enforcement Administration. In 2001, he transferred to the United States Customs Service (USCS) where he served until the USCS was merged into the United States Department of Homeland Security in 2003.
Mr. Pezzutti is the current Assistant Special Agent in Charge for Homeland Security Investigations (HSI), Orlando, Florida. Mr. Pezzutti has direct oversight of investigations, enforcement initiatives, and operations targeting transnational criminal organizations that exploit America’s travel, trade, and financial systems for illicit purposes within the seven counties surrounding Orlando.
Prior to coming to Florida, Mr. Pezzutti was a Section Chief at the National Security Investigations Division in Washington, DC, where he oversaw international programs and investigations including high-profile terrorism, terrorist financing, international money laundering, drug trafficking, strategic arms, child pornography, and certified undercover operations. He had programmatic oversight of HSI’s overall Department of Defense and interagency engagement.
In 2015 Mr. Pezzutti led a team of HSI Special Agents and Intelligence Officers in a national security-related electronic media collection project and received the Office of the Directorate of National Intelligence 2015 Intelligence Fusion Award.
Mr. Pezzutti has served as the HSI senior liaison to the Joint Special Operations Command, including deployment to Bagram, Afghanistan.
Mr. Pezzutti routinely teaches seminars at the Special Operations Command, Joint Special Operations University, JFK Warfare Center and Johns Hopkins University on counterterrorism, interagency collaboration and HSI equities as it relates to the United States’ Global War on Terrorism. He is also an instructor to foreign national law enforcement and government counterparts on HSI’s law enforcement capabilities to include cross-border financial training.
Mr. Pezzutti spent much of his field work in undercover operations focused on the dismantlement of international money laundering and narcotic trafficking organizations. He was an operator for the Special Response Team where he executed high risk search warrants and arrests.
Mr. Pezzutti holds a bachelor’s degree from Metropolitan State University of Colorado.
